Pitching Lessons

Coach Nichole is big on building a strong foundation in a pitcher first. Basic fundamentals and mechanics in pitching is the key. Once an athlete has mastered ball control, we will move on to ball placement, and velocity. Focusing on ball control first, then velocity, followed by ball movement.

MECHANICS FIRST – Learn, practice, and develop good pitching mechanics first...do NOT worry about throwing strikes when you are learning how to pitch. Learn how to do it right, make certain that everything is correct and smooth, then later you can start adding speed. Control (throwing strikes) should not be an issue in the beginning. First learn the correct way of doing the pitching motion and delivery. Then LATER you can work on being accurate and throwing strikes.

PITCHES - Are you ready to learn the Change up, Drop ball, Rise, Curve, & Screwball? After several months of hard work and practice on the fundamentals, correct mechanics, speed, and accuracy, then most pitchers are ready to proceed with learning one additional pitch.

WARM-UPS - Dynamic warmups/stretches are provided for each athlete to complete prior to the start of their lesson

Pitching Evaluations

Pitching evaluations are for pitchers between the ages of 10-18, that have pitching experience. The evaluation is not a lesson. It's a 30 minute session with Coach Nichole, where she will evaluate your pitching skills.

During Evaluation: During the evaluation Coach Nichole will ask your daughter a lot of questions regarding pitching. Within the 30 minutes she will focus on mechanics first, ball control, and then ball movement. She will look at how your daughter is using her overall body to create velocity. Does she generate power within her lower body or does she lack lower body performance? Has she been taught weight transfers? Has she been taught Internal Rotation or “hello elbow”? Does she know how to break down every pitch into 4 steps? Coach Nichole will also look at mound presence, as well as how coachable a pitcher is.  Lastly, but most importantly..are they a good fit?
